W6TEE, President Maynard Wright, W6PAP, Secretary/Treasurer Matthew Cobb, W6KDJ, Member The meeting was called to order by President Les, W6TEE, at 6:30 PM. Les reported that the seating at the Golden Corral is probably not suitable for the Christmas dinner. Les said that he favors Coco's. After some discussion, Les agreed to ask Carl, WF6J, to make reservations at Coco's. Les stated that the nominating committee, chaired by John, AE6VQ, has returned a slate of officers for 2010: President: Les Cobb W6TEE Vice President: Terry Johnson KI6KWX Secretary/Treasurer: Maynard Wright W6PAP Board Member: Doug and Sheila Emerson K8NFF & N6IKB as Co-Directors. Beau Palmer, WB6YYS, has indicated that, if asked to do so, he would accept an appointment to fill a vacant position on the board if and when one became vacant. Les said that Kim, KE6RKX, will serve as auctioneer for the White Elephant Sale at next week's meeting. We will also finish the transmission line DVD. Les stated that all members of NHRC should also be members of the K6IS Yahoo group because that will expedite the dissemination of information to members. Les adjourned the meeting at 8:30 PM. Les and Glenn, WA7SPY, discussed the Whitney Classic bicycle race. Les discussed the use of speed dial numbers for the K6IS repeater autopatch. John, AE6VQ, reported out the nominating committee's recommendations. (See minutes of the October, 2009 Board meeting.) The White Elephant Sale was conducted by Kim, KE6RKX, and seemed to be enjoyed by all. The meeting was adjourned by President Les at 9:30 PM. Officers communicated by phone and radio as required to prepare for the membership meeting. Respectfully submitted, Maynard Wright, W6PAP Secretary/Treasurer NHRC MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES November 17, 2009 The meeting was called to order by President Les, W6TEE, at 7:30 PM. Les reported that the 2010 Hamfest would be held on May 23, 2010 and that Kim, KE6RKX, would reserve the school site in Natomas. Les asked whether anyone from NHRC would like to attend the upcoming ARRL Section meeting. Les said that the simplex checkin is being extended to the first Thursday of each month as well as the first Tuesday. Les noted that the Telephone Pioneers Radio Club is using the K6IS repeater for its Monday night nets as the Pioneers' repeater, K6NP, is currently out of service. Carl, WF6J, noted that the NHRC blog has seen essentially no use and asked whether we ought to keep it. A discussion of communication methods including the Yahoo group, the web page, and the newsletter ensued. Les reported that photos of WIAR, the Hamfest, and the Campout can be reached via the web page. Gerry, KI6WDY, reported on the upcoming Skywarn Recognition Day. Les stated that the Christmas dinner would be held at Brookfield's near Madison and I-80. John, AE6VQ, Chairman of the nominating committee, reported the following nominations for 2010 officers: President: Les Cobb W6TEE Vice President: Terry Johnson KI6KWX Secretary/Treasurer: Maynard Wright W6PAP Board Member: Doug and Sheila Emerson K8NFF & N6IKB as Co-Directors. There were no nominations from the floor. It was moved by John, AE6VQ, and seconded by Shermon, AD6ZP, that the above slate be declared elected to office. The motion carried unanimously. Les asked that all the new and old officers be present at the December Board meeting on December 1st to transfer responsibilities. The raffle was held and a video presentation on SWR was viewed by the members. The meeting was adjourned by President Les at 9:58 PM. W6TEE, President Terry Johnson, Vice President elect Maynard Wright, W6PAP, Secretary/Treasurer Shermon Hall, AD6ZP, Director Windy Hardie, K5HZW, Director John Harris, AE6VQ, Repeater Committee appointee Doug Emerson, K6NFF, Co-Director elect Sheila Emerson, N6IKB, Co-Director elect Matthew Cobb, W6KDJ, Member The meeting was called to order by President Les, W6TEE, at 6:30 PM. Les reported that a tentative date of May 23rd has been selected for the 2010 Hamfest. Since May, 2010, is a five Sunday month, the conflicts that have plagued the Hamfest in the past can be avoided by that date selection. Les stated that he would authorize Bob Wortman, WB6VYH, to attend the ARRL Pacific Division Leadership Meeting. Les asked whether the first Thursday simplex net will begin this Thursday. He said that he would discuss the matter with Larry, WD6FXR. A consensus was reached that the blog is not needed by the Club as nobody is using it. Les reported that the Christmas dinner will be held on December 8th at Brookfield's, 4343 Madison Ave., near the intersection of Madison Ave. and I-80 There will be four prizes including restaurant gift cards and a 2009 ARRL Handbook. The various standing committees were discussed. Existing are: Hamfest Nets Newsletter Repeater WIAR Refreshment Matthew asked whether we ought to have a membership committee and the matter was discussed. Les discussed Skywarn Recognition Day (12/4/2009) and read an email concerning the event. Maynard reported that the NHRC Constitution has been revised and approved by the Board in 2007, but never approved by the membership. He will look into the matter.
